If you’re as curious about the new home to Wine Riot as we were, you have a lot of exploring to do. Fort Point, while relatively well known, is not somewhere that many Bostonians frequent on a regular basis. To better prep you for our amazing event that will be happening in a matter of weeks, we have created this to-do list for you.

  1. Watch The Departed. This Scorcese flick supposedly takes place in the fabulous Fort Point ‘hood and features      rooftopviews in many of the scenes. In one scene Leonardo DiCaprio makes a phone call out by the harbor, and this shot is filmed from the exterior of the Moakley Courthouse! This will give you a good feel for the area, but don’t concentrate on directions as most of the street names are fictional for the film.
  2. Head to 470 Atlantic Avenue can check out the observation deck on the 14th floor. From here you can see all of Fort Point, Logan Airport, the Harbor Islands, and the Blue Hills Reservation. There are binoculars available to borrow for some in-depth viewing. They say that the Boston Tea Party happened right there...
  3. bonston-012   3. Visit the Harpoon Brewery to get a real “taste” of the Fort Point Area. Harpoon gives daily tours that leave every 30 minutes which includes a sampling of all their brews and leaves you with a souvenir Harpoon beer glass. And the best part? The tours only run you 5 bucks!
  4.   4. For fresh fish right on the water, why not check out the Legal Test Kitchen? They use some of the freshest seafood in Boston to test out innovative new recipes for their chain of restaurants. With flat screen TVs and iPod docks on most tables, it makes for a fun afternoon lunch with friends or family.
  5. Grab some dessert at Flour, Boston’s best bakery. From chocolate or fruity pastries and cakes to savory asparagus and tomato tortes, this place is sure to satisfy any craving you may have. Taking their pastry chefs from some of the finest training schools in the country, Flour pushes boundaries for trying out new items and perfecting the classics.
  6. food_artisancocktail_johngeTo end your amazing afternoon in Fort Point you must check out Drink. Drink is that bar you’ve probably heard about that doesn’t serve traditional cocktails, but creates a beverage to suit your mood. Like grapefruit and tequila? Done. How about sweet bourbon and mint? No brainer. The bartenders at Drink are “mixologists” in the true sense of the word, and while they are kind of intimidating, once you down a couple of their beverages you just might fall in love.

There are so many amazing things to do in the Fort Point area, but most importantly WINE RIOT! We can’t list all of Fort Point’s charm on this list, so if you really wanna check it out, why not go on the Harbor Walk and explore for yourself a little bit?

See you at the RIOT!
